about-shape-1-2

For more than a decade, the Meveo Cultural and Development Assembly (MEVCUDA) is a civil society organization is dedicated to promoting peace and sustainable development from a deeply grassroots perspective.

Rooted in cultural reconciliation, MEVCUDA engages diverse community groups—ranging from rural farmers, fishermen, students, market vendors, women’s cooperatives, youth associations, traditional leaders, motor-taxi riders, artisans, and persons with disabilities.

The organization operates in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and politically diverse setting, empowering these communities to work together for social harmony, economic resilience, and peaceful coexistence. By engaging everyone from local elders to the youngest members of society, MEVCUDA strengthens the fabric of communities, ensuring that sustainable development is driven by those at the grassroots level.

The 3 Pillars of MEVCUDA

CULTURAL INTEGRATION

Cultural Assemblies:

The MEVCUDA Cultural assemblies create a platform for intercultural dialogue and collaboration as we work to transform cultural differences from sources of conflict into opportunities for enrichment and unity. Our efforts in cultural integration are crucial for mitigating the risks of cultural misunderstandings and tensions that can escalate into conflict. By prioritizing cultural reconciliation and celebrating share values, we contribute to building a more cohesive and peaceful society where diversity is embraced and leveraged for collective growth and development. This approach not only enhances social harmony but also strengthens community resilience against conflict and instability.

Miss MEVCUDA Beauty Contest:

The beauty pageant promotes cultural integration through beauty, intelligence accompanied by a vision conceived for the purpose to effect change. The contest opens its doors to young women from across the national territory to give them the opportunity to become brand ambassadors for MEVCUDA to effect change in their communities. As a category under the Ministries of Arts and Culture as well as Women Empowerment and The Family, beauty pageantry remains an invaluable instrument to promote peace and socio-cultural cohesion.

Farmer's Empowerment Scheme

This strategy was adopted in the year 2018 at the time when there was increase in food shortage in the English-speaking Regions of Cameroon. A case study carried out by our MEVCUDA team portrayed that due to the armed conflict that started in 2016, most farming communities have suffered exodus, as the inhabitants fled the conflict zones to neighboring cities and towns. This exodus caused their farms to fallow thus reducing farm produce In this 9th edition 2022. Every year, MEVCUDA seeks to increase its efforts…

MEVCUDA bridges the gap by identifying farming communities in practice, asses their needs and lobbies for farming inputs from our MEVCUDA donor, partners and sponsors to distribute to the few active farming communities to double their production. This within the framework of sustainable development, enables the few active farming communities to produce more and cover a larger scope of consumership.

CAPACITY BUILDING

Football Competition

For more that 5 years, MEVCUDA organises football competitions which involves licensed and professional clubs and academies from the national territory. The competition focuses on male footballers who are 20 years and below as well as unlimited ages for female footballers. After the competition, a talent showcase is organised to bring o te spotlight 30 outstanding players who are presented with the opportunity to get scouted by foreign agents for better formation in clubs and academies overseas.

Educational Workshops
MEVCUDA identifies academic structures based on a particular search criterion to benefit from each Years’s Educational Capacity Building Workshop. The identified academic structures are requested to send a number of students from their institutions to be beneficiaries of information in several relevant topics. Resource persons are usually recruited from government institutions and private sector depending on the topic to be delivered. Over 5000 students have gained free knowledge via this outlet in the past three years. Some of the topics for last years Educational Capacity Building Workshops include, Use of Social Media as a tool for commercialization of handicraft products, understanding the Special Status accorded by the Government to the SW and NW regions of Cameroon, identification and matriculation of State land and National Land , schooling in a crisis zone,
